Leaders require humility - a couple of months ago I swore everyone HAD to post only on the 3D at first in the party. Well here is a humble update on that one!
10-Day GROUP Party- Focusing On The 3-D Fiber Mascara Only
When Shari started with Younique, the company was just starting, so no one had really heard of Younique yet, so the excitement was about the mascara. Now the company has grown and the word is getting out, so more people have heard, (and in some cases formed opinions about) or even purchased the mascara, so we need to now focus equal time on our other products.

MORE PARTY TIPS AND INFO
Make sure to scroll down to see everything!!!!
These are all different ways to do your online parties!! You can try a few out to see what works best for you. Or discuss with your hostess to see what works better for her!! Here is the summary of each type of party and further down below each of these is explained in detail!! (And feel free to combine pieces of each type of party or invent a new one!!! These are just examples of what has worked for other people)
Breakdown of what is on this page:
- 10-Day GROUP Party- This is a more "relaxed" party style and is good for busy people because they don't have to commit to sitting in front of the computer at any specific time. It is just ongoing for 10-days.
- Popular 3/5 Day Group Party- This party format works for a Group or an Event. You call the party a "3-Day" party but really you set it up on Younique as a 5-day. Then on the third day, at the last minute, you announce that you are extending the party for 2 more days. (You can't extend a party on the Younique website, so this is a way to keep the urgency up and keep excitement going.
- EVENT 30-Minute Party This is a 5-day party, you set it up Monday morning, it is "open" all week, but you set the invitation to the event to a time during the week (usually a Tues, Wed or Thurs evening) when everyone in the party can "meet" for some contests and games. You can copy/paste directly from here on the sample to make things very easy! You could easily do this concept in a group as well if you so choose.
Pros and Cons of Groups vs. Parties
Groups
It's more difficult for the hostess to add guests, because she has to add them one by one.
If you want to delete a group, you have to remove all of the members first. (I leave my groups there for easy follow-up later)
People added to the group, do not have to "accept the invite" they are automatically added
Notifications for guests added to the group are automatically set to "Only Friends Posts" so it is very important to have your hostess post pics and text for you in the group on occasion.
If you post in the group, no one will see it, (because you are not friends with them) So it is also important to ask the hostess to tag guests in everything you post as well as post herself.
Events
It's easy for the hostess to add guests because she can just check the name by the box
Anyone who clicks "Join" is notified in their Facebook notifications every single time you post.
It can be hard to get guests to JOIN the event. Your hostess will often have to send guests private messages and post on her wall for people to join.
Once an event is over, it can be difficult finding it later to follow up.
The hostess can still tag anyone she has invited, even if they haven't joined the event.
As the party time gets closer, your guests who have joined the event will be notified by Facebook that the event is in an hour.
If you schedule a weeknight 30-minute party, many people have things come up, or just plain forget. So the hostess needs to message her guests that morning to remind them.

Hayley's 10-Day Party Format
For me personally, I have tried lots of different parties and for myself (this is what works for me, but everyone has to find their own "groove") and what works best for me is the 10-day party in a group format. I have listed below some great tips from our uplines, but in some regards the info is a bit outdated because things in this industry change fast! STILL UPDATING
Day One:
Before you invite your hostess, have 3-4 pics ready to go in the party. After she adds her friends, post about 10 different pictures (space them out throughout the day if you can) highlighting each of the products. (lashes, liners, foundations, skincare, mascara, gloss, brushes, collections.) Make a few posts about buying "bulk" in a set to save big!!
Hostess Coaching: Private Message your hostess with "Hey girl! I just added more stuff to the party!! I really want to introduce your guests to the products right now, so please go in and tag 10-20 friends in each post!!"

Days Two through Five:
GAMES and INTERACTION! Post 3-4 games/trivia/tips/funnies/contests each day... GAMES/INTERACTION is KEY!!! Your job right now is not to sell, but to get everyone to comment as much as possible!! (Of course if someone is asking you questions or wants to purchase, go for it! Close the sale!) Many guests don't participate in a party because they know they are going to be asked to buy! Take away that fear!! At first, not too many guests will play your games, the second day, maybe a couple will and by the third and fourth day, you should have quite a few participating. The KEY is to get them to relax and not feel like they are required to do anything other than have FUN!! No expectations at this point!! Do not even post about the products, just post games and fun stuff!! Do this all the way until day five!!! If you can, when someone wins a sample, call them out in their own post: "Wooo-hooo!! Congrats @Sherri on naming all of our amazing glosses correctly!! I will be sending you a sample of Luxe, our gorgeous nude gloss!!" 4 days like this seems like forever, but it works!! For the contests, offer only samples as prizes at this point!!
Games and Contests ideas:
►One contest I do is I post a link to a You Tube Younique Mascara tutorial and have everyone comment with their favorite part! Whoever comments gets entered into a drawing for a free sample!!
►Post something funny about makeup once or twice a day! See the graphics below for ideas.
►Use the poll feature to create little quizzes. Everyone who picks the correct answer, gets entered into a drawing for a sample. Just google "Makeup trivia to get some idea!!
►Post a pic of a vibrant pigment with "The name of this color is XXXXX!! If you could re-name it anything you want, what would it be? After the party is over, your hostess (insert name here) will pick her favorite name and the winner will receive a sample of a pigment!!"
►Post a chick flick graphic with "READ THIS FIRST!!!!! Okay here is the rules on this... If you know the answer.... comment with the first letter, the next person comments with the next letter until the movie title is spelled out!! One letter per person and each person who contributes a letter to the title gets entered into a drawing for a pigment sample!!!"
►Post a pic of all of the pigments "Tag yourself in the pigment that best describes your mood today!"
►Post a pic of a beauty tip "Check this out!! Would you do this?" or something that encourages them to comment on it!
► Be creative and go with the flow of the party! Come up with your own ways to interact with the guests :)
Hostess Coaching:
Day two *morning:"Hey you! Just letting you know that for the next couple of days, I am going to be playing lots of fun games and having fun with the guests!! You can play some of the games too if you want, but only your guests can win :) Please continue to tag your friends so that they see the posts :) Otherwise Facebook filters them out, and they won't even see the games and stuff :) Day two *early evening: "If you really want to get more people involved, every time a guest wins something, congratulate them on your personal wall!! The guests will see that and start participating more, and you might get some interest from non-guests wanting to join in!! It's a win-win!!
Day three: "Good morning! Let's see if we can get a few more guests involved :) Do me a favor, post in the party yourself, something along these lines: *Hey friends, want to try some of this amazing makeup FREE?! Now is your chance!! Come into the party group and scroll around and play the games!! They are fun and you have nothing to lose!! And then tag as many guests as possible!! Don't worry about bugging people, once they start winning stuff they will be thanking you!!*
Day four:
Party is going great!! I'm getting everyone more comfortable and soon I am going to announce a CHALLENGE for your guests!! They will have an opportunity to score a 2-night hotel certificate!! So just keep tagging friends and congratulating them!! And if you have time, feel free to post something in the party group yourself or post on your personal wall about how much fun everyone is having in your party! And don't forget to keep posting on your personal wall too :)
Day five: I just posted a few more things!! You know the drill!! And I'm super excited to announce the CHALLENGE tomorrow!! Whoop!
